Day 70 - Wednesday 3 July

Today we drove from Oklahoma to Austin Texas, an uninteresting scenery drive, but one with lots of excitement driving through the spaghetti jungles of Dallas and its surrounds (LA-like). Whilst in Dallas, we visited Southfork Ranch - http://www.southforkranch.com/ - and the JFK Museum and memorial - http://www.jfk.org/ .

Day 69 - Tuesday 2 July

We departed Joplin Missouri this morning on yet another interesting journey.

We drove through Kansas on Route 66 (13 miles), stopping at Galena and Baxter Springs.

Once in Oklahamo, we had a few more Route 66 stops - Commerce, Miami.

Further west into Oklahoma we stopped in Tulsa, where we saw some interesting buildings, including a beautiful art deco building - the Boston Avenue Methodist Church.





Further west, we stopped in Oklahoma City to observe the beautiful National Memorial.

We then headed south, overnighting in Ardmore Oklahoma.

Day 68 - Monday 1 July

                                        
We said our farewells to our great hosts, Jo and Pete, before heading south west from St Louis, largely on route 66, where we stopped at quite a few interesting sites - Stanton (Jesse James' hangout), Cuba (Missouri Hick Bar B Q, as well as Route 66's Mural City), Fanning (world's largest rocker - the chair!!!), Lebanon (Munger Moss Motel), Strafford (Rest Haven Court), Paris Springs (Sinclair Station) - before overnighting in Joplin, still in Missouri.
