Day 5 - Wednesday 20 January

Cape Town (4).

We had breakfast at our hotel - http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/south-africa/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-cape-town-upper-eastside-CPTUEDI/index.html .

We were then picked up by our delightful driver/guide, Sken, and headed off to our first stop of the day, the town of Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Western Cape's wine industry, where we wandered around admiring the shops and buildings, and the nearby Stark-Conde winery.

We then drove past the sprawling informal township of Khayelischa.

We then drove south along the east coast of the Cape Peninsula, with our next stop at Boulders, where after observing the penguins we had a delicious seafood lunch at Simon's Town's - http://www.seaforthrestaurant.co.za/ .

We then continued south, stopping first at Cape Point and then at the Cape of Good Hope - both very windy.

We then headed north along the rugged west coast of the Cape Peninsula, passing the wind surfers at Misty Cliff, driving along the spectacular Chapman's Peak Drive and Hout Bay.

We then returned to the V & A Waterfront, where we had a lovely Lebanese dinner at - http://ranoushe.co.za/ .

Day 4 - Tuesday 19 January

Cape Town (3).

We had a delicious breakfast at - http://www.tashascafe.com/locations/cape-town/waterfront/ .

We then caught the bus to Cape Town's Botanical Gardens - http://www.sanbi.org/gardens/kirstenbosch - pretty, though probably not such a good idea to walk around in 35 degree heat!

We then continued our journey via the Constantia region, famous for vineyards.

We then drove past informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu,

then past the beach and fishing village of Hout Bay.

We then drove back, past Llandudno and the rest of the beautiful coastline.
 

After returning to the city, we completed a quick bus trip through downtown.

Day 3 - Monday 18 January

Cape Town (2)

We started with breakfast at the V & A Market on the Wharf, where Di joined South Africa's four Nobel Peace Prize laureates, before we boarded our main transport for the day.

Our first stop was at the Table Mountain cableway station, where we ascended from to see the spectacular views from the top - http://www.sanparks.org/parks/table_mountain/ .

                         Bill on top of the highest point of Table Mountain - Maclear's Beacon.

We then travelled along the beautiful beachside suburbs of Camps Bay, Clifton, Bantry Bay and Sea Point.

 
We had a delicious lunch at - http://www.mondiall.co.za/ - , followed by a wander around the V & A waterfront.

We then went on a harbour cruise, with the highlights being the seals in various positions.

Next we went to Signal Hill, for some more spectacular views of Cape Town, including Cape Town Stadium (football), the V & A Waterfront, and sunset.

Dinner was again at Willoughby & Co.
