Day 8 - Saturday 23 January

Victoria Falls (2).

This morning we went to Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "the smoke that thunders", known as Victoria Falls, after David Livingstone set eyes on this natural wonder in 1855.

After a pleasant lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, we spent the rest of our day at our grand old Colonial Victoria Falls Hotel.




We then had a wonderful dinner at the Victoria Falls Hotel's grand and elegant Livingstone Room.

Day 7 - Friday 22 January

Chobe National Park (Botswana).

After breakfast we were picked up and driven for over an hour, by Mafios then by Matthew, via the Zimbabwe/Botswana border, to Chobe Safari Lodge. During this drive we saw several birds and animals, including a herd of sable antelopes (too quick for this slow photographer).

We were met by Lebs, who was our captain and guide for a wonderful 3 hour cruise on the Chobe River - we were the only passengers. We saw several birds and animals.

After an OK buffet lunch at the Chobe Safari Lodge, we were picked and driven to the - http://www.botswanatourism.co.bw/destination/chobe-national-park - by our driver and guide, Will - again we were the only passengers. During this exciting 2 hours we saw many animals and birds.

Nb. whilst observing the lionesses, the safari vehicle stopped running, requiring Will to get out, lift the bonnet, and fortunately get the vehicle running again. During this time a lioness was observed licking her lips!

We then returned to the Botswana/Zimbabwe border and driven back to the Victoria Falls Hotel by Mafios, with some more animal sightings along the way.

Day 6 - Thursday 21 January

Victoria Falls (1)

An early morning start to catch our flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg, where we transferred to another flight to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), where we arrived in the early afternoon and then checked in and wandered around the charming - http://www.victoriafallshotel.com/ .








We then went for a walk for a view of the Victoria Falls Bridge and Gorges.


We then walked to the Victoria Falls Bridge, where we crossed into Zambia (with Tomato) and had our first view of Victoria Falls.





We then crossed the Bridge back into Zimbabwe, where we passed several baboons.



We returned to the Victoria Falls Hotel for a delicious dinner, with local dancers providing the entertainment.
