Day 115 – Thursday 17 September

Cruise Day 12 – Singapore.

In the morning we caught the underground train to Singapore’s retail centre – Orchard Road – where we wandered through the main shopping centres. 

After lunch we caught the underground train to Marina Bay Sands, and then had a trolley tour of the beautiful Gardens by the Bay.

We then returned to our ship and met Elsa and John, who joined the cruise here.

Day 114 – Wednesday 16 September

Cruise Day 11 – Sea Day.

Another very relaxing day – overcast and warm.

Day 113 – Tuesday 15 September

Cruise Day 10 – Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Our very interesting full day bus tour of Saigon began and ended with a 90 minute journey from and back to the port of Phu My.

 

Our first stop was at Reunification Hall.

Next stop was at the National History Museum, which included a performance of the Vietnamese water puppets.

We had an OK buffet lunch at the Windsor Plaza Hotel, but disappointingly it was Chinese and not Vietnamese. During lunch we were entertained by local performers.

 

Next stop was Thien Hau Temple.

Next stop was a lacquer factory and store.

 

Next stop was at the French Colonial Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral.

 Our final stop was at the Rex Hotel , the Opera House, the City Hall and the Plaza.

 

Day 112 - Monday 14 September

Cruise Day 9 - Nha Trang (Vietnam).

Good Morning Vietnam!

A muggy tropical morning.

We were tendered from our ship to land and then shuttled in the bus to Cho Dam Market, where we had a quick shop.

We then hired Haw, the taxi driver, to take us to visit the landmarks, first to Long Son Pagoda.

Next stop was Nha Trang Cathedral.

And our last stop was to Ponagar Cham Towers, before returning to our ship.

Day 111 - Sunday 13 September

Cruise Day 8 – Sea Day.

A rainy day and formal attire for dinner.

Day 110 - Saturday 12 September

Cruise Day 7 – Hong Kong.

This was our first return to this vibrant city for 18 years. Due to travelling times we only managed a visit to Stanley market. Whilst the market wasn’t as exciting as we had remembered, the bus trip was still exhilarating, via Repulse Bay and Causeway Bay.
