Day 3 - Friday 30 November 2018

San Francisco - Day 3

A beautiful sunny day.


After breakfast, we walked back to the Grace Cathedral, and went inside.




We continued walking towards the Bay.


We then visited the Cable Car Museum - http://www.cablecarmuseum.org/ .



We then ubered to Pier 41 and caught the ferry to Sausalito.






We had a delicious lunch at - http://barrelhousetavern.com/ .



We then ubered back to San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge.


We stopped to take a photo of the Painted Ladies on Steiner Street.


We then visited the magnificent City Hall - https://sfgov.org/cityhall/ .




We then began walking to the Mission District.


Di found a fabric store on the way.


Then we had an enjoyable dinner at - http://foreigncinema.com/ .


We then ubered back to our hotel.

Day 2 - Thursday 29 November 2018

San Francisco - Day 2

After breakfast we caught an Uber to the waterfront for the ferry trip to Alcatraz - https://www.nps.gov/alca/index.htm - for a very informative morning.




 

We then returned to the mainland for a very long afternoon of walking up and down the hills of  San Francisco.


We stopped at Pier 39, but moved on.


We then arrived at -

We then visited the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park - https://www.nps.gov/safr/index.htm .



After delicious hot chocolates at - https://www.ghirardellisq.com/ , we started our walk uphill.



We stopped at the World's Crookedest Street - Lombard Street.


We then walked to the Octagon House - https://nscda-ca.org/octagon-house/ .


 

We then walked through Chinatown.


We then walked through Nob Hill.




The beautiful Grace Cathedral.


Before a delicious dinner at - https://www.nourishcafesf.com/ .


The finally back to our hotel, and crash!

Day 1 - Wednesday 28 November 2018

Melbourne - Auckland - San Francisco

A very long day, as we flew across the International Dateline.




It had been almost 30 years since we'd been to San Francisco, and it was great catching up with our friends, Joan & Peter, who'd flown in from St. Louis.




We walked around Union Square.





We then dropped into the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed shop, now occupied by Isaia - https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/isaia-san-francisco-store-frank-lloyd-wright-building-11010716/ .



We then had dinner at - http://www.searsfinefood.com/ .



We then made our way back to our hotel - https://www.petiteaubergesf.com/ , where we crashed!
