Day 19 – Tuesday 31 October 2017

Palm Cove – Cairns, Far North Queensland – Melbourne

We caught a very early morning shuttle to Cairns Airport, for our early morning flight to Melbourne.




Another lovely holiday, very relaxing.

Day 18 – Monday 30 October 2017

Palm Cove – Cairns, Far North Queensland

This morning we drove to Cairns to return our rental car.

We then had a wander around the shopping centre, before going to the RSL to meet our friend, Eleanor, and two of her children, Mitchell & Emily, and have lunch.




We then returned by bus to Palm Cove for our last pool day.

Day 17 – Sunday 29 October 2017

Palm Cove – Port Douglas, Far North Queensland

In the morning, we again drove north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, to Port Douglas.


Sunday is the weekly craft market.



We had delicious ‘’grilled barra, salad & chips” for lunch at one of the local pubs, before driving back to Palm Cove.



The afternoon again was poolside, and dinner was delicious take-away from Port Douglas’s “Lotus Leaf Asian Salads”.

Day 16 – Saturday 27 October 2017

Palm Cove, Far North Queensland

Another morning on the beach.



And the pool in the afternoon.

And Pizza & Pasta at “Portofino”.


Day 15 – Friday 27 October 2017

Palm Cove – Cape Tribulation – Port Douglas, Far North Queensland

An early morning start, as we drove north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway (the Great Barrier Reef Drive), through the Daintree National Park, to Cape Tribulation.










Around midday, we drove south, and dropped into the picturesque Port Douglas, where we had lunch at “Lotus Leaf Asian Salads”.



Di then went shopping, whilst Bill went to 4 Mile Beach.


We then had a look around Port Douglas.




We had a delicious seafood dinner at – www.ontheinlet.com.au – for the last operating day at its scenic location.



We then drove back to Palm Cove in the evening.


Day 14 – Thursday 26 October 2017

Palm Cove, Far North Queensland

Déjà vu – beach in the morning.



Pool in the afternoon.


A stroll down the esplanade at dusk, followed by a tasty Indian seafood dinner at “Anita’s Spice Restaurant”.

Palm Cove, Far North Queensland

A tough day at the office! We survived our morning on the beach.


And then survived our afternoon in and by the pool.


We had pizza & pasta for dinner, with a beautiful outlook.

Cruise Day 11 – Cairns – Palm Cove

After breakfast on the ship, we disembarked in Cairns, picked up our rental car, and drove north to our home for the next week, in Palm Cove - it's tough, but someone has to do it!

Our fourth sea day, as we continued sailing through the Coral Sea, on another lovely, sunny day.




Day 10 – Sunday 22 October 2017


Our third sea day, as we sailed through the Coral Sea, started off overcast and raining. Fortunately, the sun came out mid-morning for another lovely day.


We had another wonderful lunch at Luke Mangan’s “Salt Grill”, with David & Karen, and Bert & Una.
