Lone Pine - Mammoth Lakes, Ca
Today was another spectacular day of scenery as we drove north through the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains on Highway 395.
We first drove towards Whitney Portal, for a close up of Mt.Whitney, the highest mountain in the lower 48 US States (4,421 metres).
The view on the way down.
Next stop was Alabama Hills, which due to its interesting rock formations, has been the location setting for countless movies and television shows - http://www.lonepinefilmhistorymuseum.org/The-Alabama-Hills/alabama-hills.html .
Our car was in need of fuel and a clean before lunch in Big Pine.
The scenery was changing.
We then arrived at Mammoth Lakes - http://www.visitmammoth.com/ , where we stayed overnight, but not before visiting several of the surrounding lakes.
Stunning!!!
