Puntarenas,
Costa Rica
Day 9 of our
16 day Holland America cruise.
This morning
we arrived in the port of Puntarenas.
We met Lee
& Shirley and negotiated a taxi and driver, Juan Carlos, to drive us,
south-east of the port, through the steamy rain forests.
Our first
stop was at the Pura Vida Gardens, which has spectacular species of plants, and
views of the Pacific Ocean.
We made a
few stops to observe toucans and macaws (no photos).
We then
stopped at a local fishing village and beach.
Next stop
was at the Tarcoles River Bridge, where there are many crocodiles, in the river
and on the banks.
We returned
to our ship for a late lunch and a lazy afternoon, before commencing our
journey to our next destination.
We celebrated
Bill’s birthday with a delicious dinner in the Pinnacle Grill.
