Cruise Day 39.
French Polynesia (2 of 3).
This morning we sailed into Tahiti (one of the Society Islands), where we docked in Papeete and were greeted by the locals.
We then joined with 3 couples (including Steve & Beth) on a drive around the island with a fabulous driver/guide, Dave (of Dave's VIP Tours).
First stop was at a Marae (ceremonial and religious space).
Next stop was at Grotto de Maraa.
Next stop was Les Jardins d'Eau de Vaipahi.
Next stop was Teahupoo, one of the locations for the World Surfing Championships.
Next stop was for supplies!
Next stop was at Faaurumai Waterfalls.
Next stop was at Arahoho Blowhole.
Our final stop was at Point de Venus, which commemorates the landing places of Wallis, de Bouganville, Cook, Bligh and the London Missionary Society, on various dates.
The end of a very enjoyable tour - thanks Dave!
We then a short stroll in Papeete.
