Cruise Day 46
Tongatapu, Kingdom of Tonga.
We berthed at the capital city of Nuku'alofa, where we wandered around in the morning.
After lunch on the ship, we (with Steve & Beth) hired Joe and his vehicle to drive us around the east of the island (having driven around the west of the island last year).
Our first stop was at Captain Cook's Landing Place.
Next we visited St. Michael's Church.
Next we stopped at the Royal Terraced Tombs (ancient).
Next stop was at the north-east beaches to see the fishing pigs - no success, due to high tide!
Next stop was at Ha'amonga 'a Maui.
Next stop was at Veitongo Beach (near Fua'amotu Beach), where we watched the locals enjoying a swim/dive!
We drove past the Princess's home.
We then returned to Nuku'alofa, where we visited Mala'e Kula - the more recent Royal Tombs.
