A beautiful day driving in the state of Saxony.
We first drove 45 minutes south-east of Dresden to Bastleigebiet, an area with spectacular sandstone rock formations and views of the River Elbe.
We then drove to the nearby Festung Konigstein (Fortress), a fortification atop a rock plateau, 240 meters above the River Elbe, where we had a Saxon lunch.
We then drove 1.5 hours north-west to Schloss Colditz (Castle), which gained fame due to it becoming a prisoner-of-war camp for Allied officers during World War II.
We then drove to the nearby Burg Kriebstein (Castle) and the nearby River Zschopau, before returning to Dresden for the night.
