Day 22 – Monday 13 March

Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Cruise Day 22 of 35.

We docked at the port and saw the Queen Elizabeth 2, which we cruised on from New York to Southampton in 2000, and is now sadly no longer in service.

We caught the first shuttle bus to the Dubai Mall – the world’s largest - where we immediately obtained our tickets to go up to the observation decks of Burj Khalifa (124th floor of 163 – 828 metres up).

We then caught a taxi to the historic Bastakia quarter, where we wandered around the lanes, which house cultural buildings, galleries, bookshops, cafes and the Grand Mosque.

We then walked to and around the interesting Dubai Museum at Al Fahidi Fort, with artifacts dating back 4,000 years.

We then walked through Hindu Lane.

We arrived at Dubai Creek, which we crossed on an abra, the traditional wooden boat.

We then had a local lunch before walking through the Gold Souk.

We then caught a taxi back to the Dubai Mall for a wander around. Unfortunately, we missed the Dubai Fountain Show – the largest in the world.

We then caught the shuttle bus back to our ship – another hectic non-sea day!
