Barcelona, Spain (Day 1 of 7).
Cruise Day 35 of 35.
In the morning, we arrived in the port of Barcelona.
We checked into our centrally located hotel - http://www.exehotels.com/exe-ramblas-boqueria.html
- and then commenced our walking day of the Barri Gothic area, with its many
beautiful laneways, squares, churches and buildings.
We first visited Placa de Catalunya, where the very helpful
Tourist Information representative validated our plans.
Our first stop was at the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi,
where we were fortunate to see the Historic Dance of the Giants parade outside.
We next visited the Barcelona Cathedral.
After a tapas lunch, we then visited the Museu Picasso (not
our preference, but impressive).
We then visited the Church of Santa Del Mar.
We then went to Placa del Rei, which is built over the ruins
that we visited in the adjoining History Museum of Barcelona.
We then walked through Placa Sant Jaume, where the Palace of
the Generalitat of Catalonia and the City Hall are located.
We then walked through the picturesque Placa Sant Felip
Neri.
We then made our way to - http://www.safra18.es/
- for a delicious tapas dinner, before making our way back to our hotel.
