Barcelona / Montserrat, Spain (Day 4 of 7).
Today we had a day-trip to Montserrat. We used 4 different
types of rail transport during the day – first we caught the Metro, then RENFE
(Spanish rail), and then the rack railway to get us up the mountain, with its
beautiful scenery and churches.
Upon arrival, we caught a funicular railway up, then walked
up to Sant Joan church.
On our return, we went to the impressive Santa Maria de
Monserrat Basilica to hear the Boys’ Choir sing, and to see the 12th
century carving of La Morenta.
We then caught another funicular railway down, then walked
up and down to Santa Cova church.
In the afternoon we returned to Barcelona, and had another
delicious tapas dinner, this time in - http://www.julivertmeu.com/ .
