Day 33 – Friday 24 March

Malta.

Cruise Day 33 of 35.

In the morning, we arrived in the port of Valletta.

We then boarded a hop-on-hop-off bus for a journey around parts of the island. Our first stop was at the delightful walled city of Mdina, which we wandered through, before we visited the impressive St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral.

Our next stop was at Mosta, where we visited the Cathedral, which amazingly survived 3 direct bomb hits in World War II.

Our journey continued around the southern parts of the island, including Vittoriosa, Tarxien, Marsaxloxx, the Blue Grotto, and Hagar Qim.

We then returned to grand walled city of Valletta, and wandered around, admiring the beautiful architecture, and the amazing interior of St. John’s Co-Cathedral.

Then there was a visit to the National Museum of Archaeology, which displays many exhibits from the Bronze Age and the Phoenician period, as well as finds from Malta’s unique prehistoric temples, including the “Sleeping Lady” statue.

We sailed out of Valetta in the late afternoon.
